The National Center for Inquiry & Improvement (NCII) needed a brand new website and a logo, with the requirement that we use green as the main color and have elements from a Hawaiian shirt incorporated if possible.
We first designed the logo based on the concept of "Inquiry" (the question mark) and "Improvement" (lightbulb - ideas), then we developed the rest of the design around the logo which acts as an anchor, plus a small Hibiscus motif next to the tagline.
